How to record perfect situps for Cadoo
To record situps that earn maximum Credited Reps on Cadoo, you need a side-facing camera, full curl (shoulders well off the ground), and a controlled descent back down. CadooVision scores situps on trunk flexion, knee position, and control. Get those three right and your form score — and your Credited Reps — go up.
Camera setup
- Prop your phone vertically on a flat surface
- Enough room for your full body lying down to fit in frame
- Face sideways to the camera — left or right
Start position: lying flat
- Flat on your back
- Knees bent around 90°
- Feet flat on the floor
- Arms across your chest or beside your head
The rep: full curl, controlled descent
- Curl up slowly. Lead with your chest, not your neck. Don't yank your head up.
- Shoulders well off the ground. Full curl — shoulders 30° or more past the floor.
- Lower back down with control. Don't just drop. Controlled descent. That's one rep.
What CadooVision measures on situps
- Trunk Flexion — How far your torso curls up off the ground.
- Knee Position — Knees stay bent around 90° the whole time.
- Control — Smooth movement both ways. No jerking, no dropping.

Common situp mistakes that kill your form score
- Neck pulling — yanking your head forward with your hands. Kills form.
- Half reps — not curling up enough. Kills trunk flexion score.
- Legs lifting — feet should stay flat. Kills knee position score.
- Jerky drops — not controlling the descent. Kills control score.
Situp tip: slow and controlled wins
Speed doesn't help your situp score. Controlled movement — smooth up, smooth down — rewards more than reps done fast. Full curl beats fast and jerky every time on Cadoo.
Frequently asked questions about situps on Cadoo
Do I have to face sideways?
Yes. CadooVision measures your trunk flexion and knee angle from the side. Front-facing situps don't generate a valid form score.
Can I do crunches instead?
Situps and crunches differ in range of motion. CadooVision scores situps based on a full curl up with shoulders well off the ground — crunches typically don't reach that depth and will score lower on trunk flexion.
Can I anchor my feet?
You can, but your feet need to stay flat on the ground. If someone holds your feet or you wedge them under furniture, that's fine — as long as your knee angle stays around 90°.
Does the practice rep count?
No. Your situps only count after you pass the practice rep. See How Cadoo Practice Mode Works.
