Perfect Pushup Form for Cadoo: How to Record Pushups That Count

How to record perfect pushups for Cadoo

To record pushups that earn maximum Credited Reps on Cadoo, you need three things: a side-facing camera setup, full range of motion (chest to floor, arms locked), and a straight body line from head to heels. CadooVision — Cadoo's form scoring engine — grades each rep on depth, lockout, and body line. Nail those three and your form score stays high, which means more of your reps count toward your game.

Camera setup

  • Prop your phone vertically on a flat surface
  • Well-lit area, no dim rooms or heavy backlighting
  • Enough room so your full body fits in the on-screen practice box
  • Face sideways to the camera — left-facing or right-facing both work

A side view is required because CadooVision measures your elbow angle and hip line from the side.

Start position: lockout

  • Arms fully extended
  • Back straight, core tight
  • Body in a perfect line from head to heels
  • No sagging hips, no piking hips

The rep: chest to the floor, lockout at the top

  1. Lower slowly. Control the descent. Elbows close to your body, not flared out to 90°.
  2. Chest to the floor. Go all the way down — your chest should nearly touch the ground.
  3. Push back up to full lockout. Arms fully extended again. That's one rep.

What CadooVision measures on pushups

  • Depth (40% of score) — Elbow angle at the bottom. 90° or less = full depth.
  • Lockout (25% of score) — Elbow angle at the top. 160° or more = full lockout.
  • Body Line (35% of score) — Hip angle. Straight line = full body line score.

Common pushup mistakes that kill your form score

  • Shallow reps — not going down far enough. Directly kills depth score.
  • No lockout — stopping short at the top. Kills lockout score.
  • Sagging hips — back caving in. Kills body line score.
  • Piking hips — butt in the air. Also kills body line score.
  • Flared elbows — not a form score penalty, but risks shoulder injury.

Pushup tip: fewer reps, higher score

Remember the Credited Reps formula:

Credited Reps = Attempted Reps × Average Form Score

A 90% average on 5 perfect pushups = 4.5 Credited Reps. A 50% average on 15 shallow pushups = 7.5 Credited Reps, but only if they all pass the 60% threshold. Any rep under 60% doesn't count at all. Do fewer reps with perfect form and your average stays higher — and more reps credit.

Frequently asked questions about pushups on Cadoo

Do I have to face sideways?

Yes. CadooVision measures your elbow and hip angles from the side. Front-facing pushups don't generate a valid form score.

Can I do modified (knee) pushups?

CadooVision evaluates standard pushup form (toes on ground). Knee pushups may not score well on body line because the hip angle differs from a standard plank.

What's the minimum form score per pushup rep?

60%. Reps below 60% don't credit and aren't included in your average.

Does the practice rep count toward my total?

No. The practice rep is a gate, not a counted rep. Your reps start counting once the real recording begins. See How Cadoo Practice Mode Works.
