How to Record Your Reps

  1. Join a pushups game from the Cadoo home screen.
  2. Tap "Record" when you are ready to do your reps.
  3. Position your phone so the camera can see your entire body from the side. Prop it against something stable 6-8 feet away.
  4. Face sideways to the camera. The AI works best when it can see your full body profile (left or right side).
  5. Fit inside the outline. The app shows an outline on screen. Adjust your position until your body fits inside it.
  6. Do a practice rep to qualify. The app will confirm your rep was detected before starting the real recording.
  7. Perform your reps at a steady pace. The AI counts each completed rep in real time.

How Cadoo Scores Your Form

Every rep gets a form score from 0 to 100%. The score is based on two factors:

  • Depth (60% of score) — How deep you go on each rep. Deeper is better.
  • Lockout (40% of score) — How fully you extend at the top of each rep. Full extension is better.

Your overall form score is the average of all your rep scores. You need at least 60% to pass.

Depth Scoring for Pushups

The AI measures your elbow angle at the bottom of each rep. Ideal depth is a 90-degree elbow bend. You must reach at least 110 degrees to register a rep. Going deeper earns a higher form score.

Lockout Scoring for Pushups

At the top of each rep, the AI checks that your arms are fully extended. Ideal lockout is 170 degrees. You need at least 160 degrees for it to count.

What Counts as a Rep?

A rep counts when you complete the full movement cycle:

  1. Start position: Start in a high plank position with your arms extended, body in a straight line from head to heels.
  2. Down phase: Lower your body by bending your elbows until they reach approximately a 90-degree angle.
  3. Up phase: Push back up to full arm extension (lockout) to complete the rep.

If you do not reach the required depth or do not return to full extension, the rep may not count or may receive a low form score.

  • Not going low enough (elbow angle stays above 110 degrees)
  • Not locking out arms fully at the top
  • Sagging hips or piking up (body not in a straight line)
  • Moving too fast for the camera to track your pose

Tips for a Perfect Score

  • Good lighting is essential. Film in a well-lit room so the AI can see your body clearly.
  • Face sideways. The AI tracks joint angles best from a side view.
  • Show your full body. Make sure head to feet are visible in the frame.
  • Go slow and controlled. Fast, jerky movements are harder for the AI to track.
  • Full range of motion. Go all the way down and all the way up on every rep for the best score.
  • Wear fitted clothing. Loose or baggy clothes can obscure your joint positions.
